Myth #1 — New laundry products, like pods and beads are a confusing and hard to use.

Myth #5 — Your washing machine is already clean because it “washes itself” during each laundry cycle.

FACT: Dirt and odors actually build up in your washing machine over time. That’s why it’s important to intentionally clean your machine regularly to avoiding soiling or damaging clothes. Every six months, follow these simple steps to get your washing machine sparkling clean and keep your clothes fresher:
  1. Fill your machine with hot water and add about three cups of white vinegar and a half cup of baking soda and allow to sit for 30 minutes.
  2. Run a regular wash cycle and your machine will be clean as new.
  3. Use any leftover white vinegar to spray on and wipe down the drum and all seals.

Doing laundry while traveling is one of the fabulous part of traveling but it is part of everyday life on the road. Laundry detergent pods remain a health hazard

Laundry detergent pods are convenient, but there’s a dark side to these cleaners from Arm & Hammer, Purex, Tide, and other brands: Since early 2012, poison-control centers nationwide have received reports of nearly 7,700 pod-related exposures to children age 5 years and younger. As part of the upcoming National Poison Prevention Week (March 17-23), Consumers Union, the policy and advocacy arm of Consumer Reports, is warning the public of this health hazard and pressing industry to do more to protect children.           Laundry detergent pods have been around since the short-lived Salvo tablets of the 1960s and '70s.
